Virtual and In-Person Therapy in NY
Reconnect with joy and pleasure
Trauma-informed, sex-positive, kink- and poly-affirming therapy for LGBTQIA+ individuals and non-traditional relationships seeking deeper connections with themselves and their loved ones.
One of the greatest barriers to connection is the cultural importance we place on "going it alone." Somehow we've come to equate success with not needing anyone. Many of us are willing to extend a helping hand, but we're very reluctant to reach out for help when we need it ourselves. It's as if we've divided the world into "those who offer help" and "those who need help." The truth is that we are both.

DR. DIANE DUAN
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Welcome!
I am so glad you’re considering starting therapy! I am a clinical psychologist providing short- and long-term therapy to individuals and couples looking to deepen their connection with themselves and within their relationships. While our relationships are some of the most fruitful and fulfilling elements of our lives, they can also be the most fraught and difficult to navigate. It is important that we tend to them with patience, care, and compassion (particularly our relationships with ourselves)! I look forward to helping you navigate the challenging moments with intention and clarity, while also embracing life’s gifts of joy and pleasure.
My approach to therapy is patient, collaborative, non-judgmental and playful. I aim to foster a space where all thoughts and feelings are welcome, and you feel safe to explore your internal and external worlds. Through somatic exercises, I will help you unlock your strengths and internal wisdom. You will gain an embodied understanding of the thoughts, feelings and behaviors that limit your ability to live an authentic and fulfilling life. This embodied understanding, or “felt sense,” guides you in integrating practices that foster growth, healing, and meaningful change.

Internal Family Systems
IFS is a holistic and non-pathologizing approach to understanding our internal and external worlds. IFS recognizes that we are all made of “parts” with a fundamental inner wisdom (“Self”). As an IFS-trained therapist, I believe in the inherent healing capacity within each individual and work to uncover it through somatic exercises. Using IFS, I help you gain insight into unconscious thoughts and feelings, connect with memories stored in the body, and begin an embodied path towards change.
